Cast the shadow of burden behind us

I remember how I used to draw a watermelon house surrounded by monstrous looking trees whenever I was given the 'life in 2000' kinda topics during art classes in primary school. Should have kept my artistic pieces haha. Can't believe it's 11 years past the Y2K already!

Met the girls at night for zi char opposite Meiqi's place. Kinda weird to have that on NYE but it feels really warm to have a family dinner like that! Fate brought us together (very cliche haha) when I was 13, and I'm very glad to have this closely-knit group of nine cause friendship like this doesn't come easy at all. While there are people who come and go in your life, these are the people who leave their footprints in mine (cliche attempt #2). We met when we were teenagers, been through the adolescent stage together and now we are taking our baby step into adulthood :)

Our initial plan was to head down for the fireworks and countdown before going to Sherlin's place for a stayover. Unfortunately the celebration went awry because poor Sherlin fell sick and we had to make last minute changes for the night, so my 10th month celebration earlier in the day kinda flopped too when Daniel and I ended up cooping ourselves up in the stuffy car for hours to research for alternate plans for the night.

Tried chalets but all were fully booked, just like every hotels in Singapore. We were so desperate that we even looked up budget and sleazy hotels (to clarify - for everyone, not just the 2 of us haha) that have jacked up their prices from the usual $80+/night to an exorbitant cost of $200/night.

After we've decided to fall prey to their evil scheme, brainstormed 'strategies' to sneak everyone into the room and arrived at the hotel at 11.12pm, we were told that no guests were allowed in the rooms after 11pm so we all fell back to our state of helplessness. The rest of the night was basically spent cracking our brains over where to stay for the night and 'relacing at different corners' until we settled down at Chungying's place for the night.

The 1st corner we relac-ed: Countdown @ the (ulu) Harry's Bar

Good girls gone bad mad

Do not try this at home

Final destination @ Chungying's place: PS3 saved the night

The very fun tictactoe game that I'm damn cui at haha

The bo-li-bo game that requires you to sway like that.
just kidding

It may be because we were busy rushing around and feeling discouraged over failed plans prior to 0000hrs and that we didn't have a proper countdown to end off 2010, it feels like I'm caught in between the end of the year and the beginning of a new year. Nevertheless, I am glad to have spent it with people who matters :)

Went home in the morning and k.oed until 2pm! It's been soooo long since I get to wake up so late and the best part is waking up to a steamboat lunch with the family heh and the 2nd day of 2011 was spent doing house chores :/ Not liking that part, haha.

That basically sums up my new year celebration for 2011. Very eventful, not for the faint-hearted haha. No new year resolutions as usual cause I never seem to work towards them, just hope that 2011 will be better and I wish for a great year ahead for everyone!

The 10th :

Thanks to procrastination, I'm blogging about the 10th month just a while after I posted about the 9th, feels kinda strange haha. Had an early celebration on the 31st before meeting the girls cause I'll be spending the 1st with them. Was whisked off to the Rider's Cafe, somewhere I've been very curious about so I got really excited when I found out that we're heading there.

On the way heh

While waiting for a seat - Business was very good that day (maybe everyday)!

Nearly missed our chance to lunch there (They only serve lunch until 3pm) cause I didn't know Daniel made plans to come here and was busy researching for alternate plans for the night with the girls and pushed back the schedule by quite abit. Fortunately we managed to get a seat just before 3pm when someone cancelled his reservation heh :)

The food

and the very extremely small cup of macchiato

The view from the balcony seat

Unfortunately the weather was bad and it started raining before we could finish our food and get near to the horses :( Went back to the car to continue our research and were lucky to have an up-close view of these horses!

Very beautiful

and the not-so-beautiful cow-like horse that entertained us abit

Happy 10th! :)

X'mas Eve

Spent the eve with Daniel as we'll be spending the X'mas with friends. Our first countdown to X'mas was at the most unexpected place - the car! Don't know to say it's romantic or anti-climax! hahaha. Decided to avoid the Orchard crowd so we headed to the Marina Square to just walk around. Was quite aimless in the day, going into random shops and playing Daytona (omg haha) until we concluded that we were not in the mood for shopping so we did the countdown and present exchange in the car!

An excited Daniel with his present

and me with my present (and horrible eyebags)!

The guy who gave me my present with that unlomantic face

and us with our presents! :)

X'mas

The X'mas was spent at Ziyan's place and there was a feast of my favourite Domino's pizzas, onion rings, cinnamon buns, sherperd's pie and 2kg ham! A cosy event playing card games, donating money to people (again), chatting, exchanging presents and celebrating ziyan's belated birthday.

only to see that she has an identical key holder!

no idea what they/we were doing haha

Boxing Day

Dated my family to a picnic, our favourite family activity and we were so thankful for the good weather as it rained everyday during that period.

The overcast sky that threatened to rain but it was good to us!

I think dad's trying to say something

and I think it's my mum's turn to want to say something haha

Love this shot :)

Daniel's showing signs that he could no longer resist the temptation to reveal his ghost-face

There he goes hahaha

And Kevin was pressured by my sis to do the same hahaha. I'm honoured to have captured this very rare sight.

and my parents enjoying the breeze, food and company!

Love family outings like this, totally not looking forward to the start of lessons in a week's time that's going to take time away from my friends and family :(
